“My super cool Mum used to travel to India from our home in Denmark with many suitcases full of medicine, clothes and shoes for the orphanages.” A mildly resentful daughter wondered why her humanitarian mother prioritized orphaned Indian children over her own offspring.

In this poignant, provocative exploration of charity, poverty, extreme need for education, and motherhood, actress and filmmaker Dina Rosenmeier visits the Indian orphanages, schools and charities her mother so passionately helped to create.

Since the 1970’s, Jessie Rosenmeier has worked as an activist to improve the lives of orphans and street children in India, primarily in the cities of Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.

Through her volunteer work approximately 400 children have gone in adoption to Denmark, schools, orphanages and sponsorship programs have evolved.

Hoping to understand her mother’s choices, Dina Rosenmeier, the youngest of her 6 children, sets out on a journey in her footsteps.
