Obesity rates are climbing at an unprecedented rate across all ages and ethnic groups in western countries. It is becoming the greatest killer of Americans.

Obesity causes 110,000 American deaths each year and plays a role in one-third of all cancer deaths. Yet, despite ballooning concerns, little is being done on the public policy level.

Don’t be fooled by the sensationalist title: the “killer” in question is not a homicidal maniac but a growing national epidemic – that of obesity. Grounded in deeply disturbing statistics – namely the fact that two-thirds of the American population (including 9 million children) qualify as obese or overweight – this documentary argues that the United States is on the cusp of an evolutionary disaster that is systematically wiping out large sectors of the populace. As such, the documentary traces the root causes and looks at ways to reverse this impending crisis.

Exploring the issue from individual, political, scientific and cultural perspectives, the film features appearances by Bill Clinton, Ralph Nader, Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Surgeon General Richard Carmona and others. This film examines  ways to reverse this deadly trend.
