Neurobiologists say we use only a fraction of our mind’s potential.
Forty years ago, relaxation techniques, mindfulness, meditation and guided imagery were just coming into the domain of western science. In the early eighties, after learning and using these techniques to overcome a particularly difficult cancer, Ian Gawler left his veterinary practice and became one of the true pioneers of Mind-Body Medicine in the Western world.
Ruth Gawler had her own difficulties to overcome – mental illness; severe post-natal depression and intractable back pain. Expanding beyond the conventional, Ruth applied similar methods, recovered and has been well and working with Ian for many years.
During this evening, Ruth and Ian will share the essence of what they have learnt.

What we are talking of here is more than just an experience; it is a science – a mind science. This is how you train your mind. It is just like choosing to become physically fitter; going to the gym, running around the park, training your muscles. Here, however, we go to the ‘mental gym’. We train our mind, enjoy it becoming mentally fitter, more capable and more resilient. Calm and clear. We learn how to develop an enduring, stable mental state which naturally feels good and is conducive to good mental and physical health.
