Facing his own death brought clarity and purpose to film director Tom Shadyac. He asked people, “What can we do about our world?” and discovered that cooperation and democracy are in our DNA. We are more interconnected than most of us realise.

Tom had suffered post-concussion syndrome after a bicycle accident in 2007 and experienced months of acute headaches, hyper-sensitivity to light and noise, and slept in a closet due to chronic tinnitus that lasted beyond a six-month period. The injury followed the cumulative effects of previous mild head injuries he had suffered when surfing, mountain biking and playing basketball.

Later, as his symptoms finally began to subside, the director wanted to share his inner quest in the way he knew best: through film.
