Presenter Venerable Robina Courtin
We spend our lives being seduced by the outside world, believing utterly that happiness and suffering come from “out there”. And not only that, we believe that we’re the victims of external circumstances. The experiential implications of this are blame, anger, guilt and hopelessness.
The Buddhist view is that we produce ourselves, moment by moment: every thought, word, and action counts. We can be in charge of our lives by changing the way we interpret and respond to events. The experiential implication of this approach is empowerment, which brings fulfilment, optimism and empathy for others.
