Glenn McGowan

Glenn is a proud father of two boys and lives with his wife Kathy on the Sunshine Coast.  He has been working in education for forty years. He started his career as an Early Childhood Teacher and moved on to Special Education and Guidance due to his interest in supporting students with exceptional needs.glenn-mcgowan_2

Following his years teaching, Glenn went on to hold a number of senior positions at a regional , district  and Central Office  level in Education Queensland, including such roles as Director of Early Childhood Education, Curriculum Innovation Branch; Manager of Executive Services in the Office of the Director General; Director of Cabinet Legislation and Liaison; Acting Executive Director of Schools in Sunshine Coast Region; Supervisor of Studies Early Childhood and Manager Education Services for Sunshine Coast Region. One highlight for Glenn in 2002 – 2003 was overseeing the roll out of the PREP program across Queensland’s schools.

Glenn’s passion for working with kids, parents and schools saw him return to a school as Principal of Mountain Creek State on the Sunshine Coast, from 2006 -20012, which at its peak was one of the largest primary schools in Queensland, with a strong international profile for education excellence. As an Early Childhood educator Glenn has been a strong advocate for the importance of quality parenting. He has given a number of presentations and practical workshops throughout his career to help parents manage and support their children through their learning and development.

Recently Glenn has been working as a part -time Internal reviewer for the School Improvement, Office of the Director General and is also an accredited National School Improvement Consultant with ACER.

Glenn has also worked with both schools and business in a private consultancy role. He has been awarded life accreditation with Human Synergistics for his work on building individual self awareness, team and organisational effectiveness by focussing on leadership culture.

More recently Glenn is pursuing his work as an Executive Coach utilising a 360 degree feedback tool for leaders and their teams. He is highly motivated and strongly endorses the work of Quentin Jones, Managing Director and Margherita Larné-Jones, Director of CLS360 Pty. Ltd.

Glenn has resigned from his position with the Department of Education and Training and plans to travel more with his wife and work exclusively in a consultancy role through his own company McGowan and Partners Consulting.
